A flat sheet is a single, unelasticised sheet that lies between you and your duvet or blanket. You can tuck it in at the foot and sides of the bed for a neat finish, fold it back at the top for a layered look, or use it on its own on warmer nights. It sits on top of your fitted sheet and under your duvet cover.

Our flat sheets come in Super King and California King. Because they're cut generously, they work across smaller bed sizes too. If you have a Queen or King bed, simply tuck the extra fabric in on the sides and foot and it will sit neatly in place.

A fitted sheet has elasticated corners that wrap snugly around your mattress and is included in our sheet sets. A flat sheet is unelasticised and lies loosely on top as a layer between you and your duvet. It is sold separately and is more common in North American bedding traditions, though many sleepers swear by the extra layer it adds.

Not strictly, but many people find it adds comfort and extends the life of their duvet cover by reducing how often it needs washing. In warmer months, a flat sheet on its own can replace the duvet entirely.
