All our fitted sheets atSunday Bedding are designed to fit mattresses up to 40cm deep, so they'll comfortably suit most standard and pillow-top mattresses. The continuous elastic band helps keep corners in place, even if you're someone who moves around in your sleep.

It depends on how you like your bed to feel. If you sleep hot or tend to sweat through the night, Bamboo Sateen bedsheets are a popular choice for its cool, silky feel. If you prefer something light and familiar, then Organic Cotton bedsheets are a great choice with their breathable, everyday comfort. French Linen bedsheets have a more relaxed, lived-in texture that softens beautifully over time, while Cotton Voile is exceptionally light and airy for those who love barely-there bedding.

A fitted sheet hugs your mattress with elasticated edges, creating the base layer you sleep on each night. A flat sheet is an optional layer placed between you and your duvet less common locally, but worth considering if you run cold or prefer extra layers on the bed.

Folding a fitted sheet neatly can feel like an excruciating task, but it gets easier with a little practice. Start by turning the sheet inside out and tucking the two corners on one side into the other two corners. Lay it flat, smooth out the elastic edges, then fold it into a rectangle before folding it down to your preferred size. It may never be perfect, but it will certainly make your linen cupboard look tidier

Like all bedding made from natural fibres, some wrinkling is to be expected. For French Linen, that relaxed, slightly rumpled look is part of the appeal and softens beautifully over time. Cotton Voile can crease too, though most wrinkles settle naturally with use. If you prefer a neater finish, Bamboo Sateen is treated with a low-formaldehyde anti-wrinkle technology that helps it stay smooth wash after wash, making it the easiest option to maintain.

To minimize wrinkles, remove your fitted sheets promptly after washing and smooth them out before drying.

A good fitted sheet should do more than just fit your mattress. Look for breathable materials that suit the way you sleep, along with a secure elastic band that keeps the sheet in place through the night.

It's also worth checking the pocket depth against your mattress. And if the fitted sheet runs slightly larger than your mattress dimensions, that's intentional. Natural fabrics shrink a little with washing, and any excess can simply be tucked in. Over time, the fit tends to settle naturally.

For most fitted sheets, a thread count between 200 and 400 is considered ideal for balancing softness, breathability and durability. As a general rule, every one to two weeks is ideal. Regular washing keeps your bedding feeling fresh and helps remove the build-up of sweat, oils and everyday allergens.

Like most bedding made from natural fibres, a small amount of shrinkage can occur after the first few washes. At Sunday Bedding, our fitted sheets undergo strict wash testing to ensure shrinkage stays within 2%. To get the best out of them, follow the care instructions on the label, wash in cold water, and avoid high heat when drying.

Our fitted sheets come pre-washed, so what you feel in store or when your order arrives is exactly what you'll sleep on. We don't use chemical finishes to artificially soften the fabric - the feel is the real thing. If you have sensitive skin, we'd recommend a gentle wash before first use, just as a precaution. Otherwise, they're ready to go straight from the packaging.
