An Otherworldly Reading List by The Moon

We’ve all begun reading again during this stay at home period — or at least tried to. Here to aid our pursuit of greater knowledge is The Moon, one of our favourite local bookstores. They’ve helpfully curated a reading list for us, from fantasy texts to heartfelt memoirs.

Why not head to the store to check these books out? Grab a glass of Moon Milk at their in-store cafe, browse through their tote bags and crystals, and settle in for a great reading experience.

1) The Complete Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

A stunning masterpiece in visual storytelling and historical memoir. Persepolis is a must-read for any book buff, graphic novel or otherwise.

2) Motherhood by Sheila Heti

A fictional account of one woman’s struggle with the societal expectations of motherhood.

3) The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin

The Left Hand of Darkness follows a human representative as he welcomes the gender-fluid inhabitants of the planet Winter into an intergalactic alliance, challenging our conceptions of society, personhood, and emotion.

4) The Importance of Music to Girls by Lavinia Greenlaw

A symphony of life lessons about a girl's struggle for belonging, melodiously conveyed through Lavinia's artful prose.

5) Farewell to the Muse: Love, War and the Women of Surrealism by Whitney Chadwick

Bold and empowering. Definitely for lovers of art history.
